EL NIDO, PALAWAN โ€“ In line with the Departmentโ€™s commitment to continual improvement of delivery of its program and services, DOLE MIMAROPA conducted a two-day Capacity-Enhancement Activity on 23 โ€“ 24 November 2022 at Jurias Hotel, El Nido, Palawan with the members of the Labor Inspectorate Team.

For the first day, none less than the Director IV of the Bureau of Working Conditions (BWC), Atty. Alvin B. Curada, kicked off the activity with discussions on DOLE Issuances on first-aid training; Freedom of Information; and Safe Spaces Act or the Anti-Bastos Law.

Also from BWC is Mr. Joseph Yven Rodriguez, who discussed the use of the new Management Information System (MIS) for the inspection program.

During the second day, the activities focused on Promoting Mental Health Awareness in the Workplace. Discussion and workshops were facilitated by the Philippine Mental Health Association, Inc. โ€“ Lipa, Batangas Chapter. It was reiterated that mental health is an integral and essential part of the overall health of a person. The discussion was conducted by PMHA Lipa Executive Chapter Manager Ms. Hazel Magpantay, RPsy while the workshops were led by Ms. Imei Joy Landicho, RPm and Ms. Kristine Joy Bautista, RPm.

The activities were graced by DOLE MIMAROPA Regional Director Naomi Lyn C. Abellana and Asst. Regional Director Erwin N. Aquino. Both congratulated the Inspectorate Team as they were the first one nationwide to reach their target on inspected establishments. It is expected that the learning sessions will enable the participants to have an in-depth knowledge of the topics that it will empower them in the implementation of DOLE policies.

The objective of the Labor Inspection is to further strengthen the implementation of the visitorial and enforcement powers under the Labor Code, as renumbered, towards securing a higher level of compliance with labor laws and standards, and ensuring continuity and sustainability of compliance at workplaces.
