𝘉𝘰𝘢𝘤, 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘲𝘶𝘦 – On 03-04 November 2022, the Department of Labor and Employment MIMAROPA thru its Marinduque Field Office in partnership with Provincial Health Office (PHO) and Department of Health (DOH) facilitated a two-day Occupational First Aid and Life Support Training held at Balar Events Place, Brgy. Balaring.
A total of 35 workers from various establishments in the province participated in the training aimed at providing competency for initial response measures to save lives.
Senior LEO Mr. Marjun S. Moreno welcomed the guests and participants as he gave a run through of the activities happening in the program. FPCP Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Gerardo O. Caballes delivered his message highlighting the importance of timely and effective response for it will ultimately save more lives.
In her message via Zoom, RD Naomi Lyn C. Abellana encouraged health workers and others to spread the word in developing more first-aiders in the community. Meanwhile, ARD Atty Erwin N. Aquino also commended the partnership of DOLE, PHO and DOH in creating programs and training to enhance safety and health in the workplace.
During the Basic Life Support (BLS) Training, participants were taught on the recognition of signs of sudden cardiac arrest, heart attack, stroke and foreign body airway obstruction, and the performance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillation with an automated external defibrillator.
Each participant went through lectures, demonstration, written and practical test wherein they performed what they’ve learned throughout the two training days.
The training is in compliance with Rule 1960 of Philippine Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards which mandates every employer to establish occupational health services in their workplace and Rule 1964.01 specifically requires First-Aider who completed a first aid course conducted by accredited training organization. Relatively, Section 25 of Republic Act No. 11058 and Department Order (DO) No. 198-18 also mandates trained first aider in every establishment.
