In the recently held Kalayaan Jobs Fair last June 12, 2019 in the Municipal Town Plaza of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, out of 195 job applicants that registered, 78 applicants were Hired-On-The-Spot (HOTS), 31 are near-hires and 189 qualified applicants were referred for job placement.

            The job fair was participated by 12 employers, including Epson Precision Philippines, Inc., Work Asia International Recruitment Agency, Inc., First Northern International Placement Inc., Havillah International Manpower Services Inc., Sunway International Manpower Services, Star World International Manpower and Placement Agency, PKI Manufacturing and Technology Inc., People Serve Multi-Purpose Cooperative, One Source General Solutions, Inc., Skygo Marketing Corp., Virtualist Business Solutions, and Holistic Approach Inc.

Moreover, DOLE Occidental Mindoro Field Office also facilitated the selection of enumerators, encoders and community facilitators which shall be deployed relative to the profiling of child laborers in the province.

In celebration of the 121st Independence Day with a theme “Tapang ng Bayan, Malasakit sa Mamamayan”, the Kalayaan Job Fair was made possible by DOLE, OWWA, LGU San Jose and PESO who worked together to make this event successful. Also present in the activity were the representatives from partner agencies like SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG and TESDA to showcase their respective programs and services.

DOLE OccMin Field Office Head, Mr. Roderick F. Tamacay, in his message, emphasized and advised to all jobseekers that, “…in finding a job, one needs to be serious and not just consider it for experience purposes alone, it needs dedication, innovation, understanding and love in order to last in a job, thus encouraging everyone to be determined, focused and stay motivated…

Another highlight of the event was the awarding of livelihood grants to our individual beneficiaries from the municipalities of San Jose and Magsaysay. Among the projects awarded are: Establishment of Sari-sari Store by Ms. Evangeline E. Munar and Ms. Elizabeth Enelda, while other two also received additional materials and equipment in establishing Car wash and vulcanizing shop by Mr. John Alfred Leynes and Mr. Rolly Domingas while two more beneficiaries thru Ms. Teresita Celestre and Ms. Romana Malaluan received additional supplies for their tailoring trade.

              Jobs Fair is an employment facilitation strategy aimed to bring DOLE’s employment facilitation program to the reach of the poor, unemployed and displaced workers in the regional areas.
