In its bid to provide speedy, impartial and inexpensive settlement of labor issues in the workplace, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)- MIMAROPA, thru its Oriental Mindoro Field Office (DOLE OrMin), facilitated the payment of separation pay to 21 workers thru conciliation-mediation or Single-Entry Approach (SEnA) Program.

On October 3, 2022, Mr. Jose (full name not disclosed for privacy purposes), one of the 21 affected workers who worked as watchman in a private cemetery in Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro filed a request for assistance to DOLE OrMin to help them get their separation pay due to company’s closure and reorganization.

On October 28, 2022, after a series of conferences facilitated by DOLE SEnA Desk Officer Francisco S. Sales III, the company voluntarily gave a total amount of PhP 1,386,314.38 for 21 affected workers representing payment for separation, unpaid service incentive leave and pro-rated 13th month.

Mr. Jose, who received PhP 99,651.46 expressed his gratitude to DOLE for helping him and his co-workers in getting their benefits ” Nagpapasalamat po ako sa DOLE na kami ay tinulungan na makuha namin ang aming separation na nararapat sa amin bilang mga manggagawa na nagsilbi sa aming kompanya” Mr. Jose said during phone verification.

The conciliation-mediation conferences were conducted thru hybrid mode (face-to-face and teleconferencing) under the online E-SEnA program to limit the physical contact thereby prevented the spread of COVID-19 virus and saved transportation expenses of both parties specially in remote places.

Under Department Order 151 Series of 2016, Single Entry Approach or SEnA is an administrative approach that provides a speedy, impartial, inexpensive and accessible settlement procedure of all labor issues or conflicts to prevent such from maturing into actual labor case.
