CALAPAN CITY, ORIENTAL MINDORO – DOLE Oriental Mindoro (DOLE OrMin) conducted GIP Orientation in Cafe Angela, Calapan Bay Hotel, Calapan City on July 15, 2019.
DOLE MIMAROPA Regional Director Joel Gonzales & DOLE OrMin Field Office Head Engr. Julie Ortega welcomed the 40 government interns hired primarily to profile child laborers at risk & senior citizens in Oriental Mindoro.
The following DOLE personnel spearheaded the training proper: Ms. Mary Ann B. Dudas (FO program focal), Mr. Ramezes R. Torres (FO program alternate) and Mr. Kim Neko C. Baña (RO program focal), aiming the GIPs to pack with the knowledge and techniques during their fieldwork. National & Regional Child Labor Situation; Anti-Child Labor Laws and Policies; Determining Child Work -vs- Child Labor; and Child Labor Targets in the Philippine Development Plan 2017-2022. Said topics were among of the topics discussed during orientation.
This collaborative effort was pursuant to Department Order No. 149, Series of 2016, as amended by Department Order No. 149-A, Series of 2017 known as “Guidelines in Assessing and Determining Hazardous Work in the Employment of Persons Below 18 Years of and Republic Act 9231, An Act Providing for the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labor and Affording Stronger Protection for the Working Child, Amending for this Purpose Republic Act No. 7610, As Amended, Otherwise Known as the “Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act”.
Last part of the program focused on the signing of internship agreement specifying the 6-month employment period under the DOLE’s Government Internship Program.
