Romblon – In partnership with the Local Government Units, PESO, PNP, DSWD, DepEd and DILG, the Department of Labor and Employment celebrated the 30th National Children’s Month which focused on the mental health and well-being of children with the theme: “Kalusugan, Kaisipan, at Kapakanan ng Bawat Bata Ating Tutukan!”
A total of 70 profiled child workers with their parents from the Local Government Units of Looc and Alcantara, Romblon participated in the activity.
Awareness on the difference between child work and child labor, rights of the children and responsibilities of the parents/ guardians were tackled to remind the participants that everybody has rights and freedom. Responsibilities were also reiterated to ensure that they perform their duties to protect and uphold the welfare of their children.
Also, the speakers emphasized that giving children the right nourishment, learnings and engagement in safe and various activities will boost and empower their well-being.
Free meals and food packs were distributed during the program. The children also enjoyed the parlor games.
It is only right, that we protect and secure our children at all times because they are vulnerable in all circumstances of life. The bible says, “Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him”, a blessing that everybody should cherish.
