ODIONGAN, ROMBLON – Due to intensified enforcement of the Republic Act No. 11058 known as “An Act Strengthening Compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Standards and Providing Penalties for Violations Thereof” ensuring the safety and healthful workplace for all working people by affording them full protection against hazards in their work environment, the Department of Labor and Employment, Romblon Field Office in coordination with the Corporate Occupational Safety, Health & Environment Management Association of the Philippines (COSHEMAP), Inc. held Basic Occupational Safety and Health Training Course for Safety Officer 1 (SO1), an eight (8) hour mandatory training course with two-hour Training for Trainers on August 9, 2019.
This aims to impart knowledge and skills on basic concepts and principles of Occupational Safety and Health to ensure that safety and health program is duly followed and enforced in every workplace. The roles of Safety Officers are to supervise the management of OSH program, monitor and inspect the operation and to implement a sound and clear organization’s Safety and Health program in their respective establishments.
After the 2-day undertaking, ninety-five (95) newly trained Safety Officers are now ready to promote safe and healthy environment eyeing for zero accident workplace.
