SABLAYAN, OCCIDENTAL MINDORO – the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Occidental Mindoro Field Office extended aid to the disadvantaged and displaced workers through the local government unit (LGU) of Sablayan as the Accredited Co-Partner (ACP) on 06 January 2021. The total amount of P624,000.00 as payment for wages of 130 workers for emergency work under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD).

As the country continues to heal and recover from the crisis brought by COVID-19, rapid response programs are also being implemented to mitigate and cushion the effects caused by the pandemic – unemployment.

Under the TUPAD BAYANIHAN 2, the beneficiaries were engaged in disinfection/ sanitation of community or other public facilities for 15 days from December 16-31, 2020 at four (4) hours a day only to reduce the possible risk of exposure to COVID-19.

During the awarding, Mayor Andres D. Dangeros lauded the Department’s indefinable assistance in helping their constituents to recover from their losses brought by the pandemic.

“Maraming salamat sa DOLE sa walang sawang suporta na ibinibigay ninyo sa Sablayeños simula noon pa man. Malaking tulong ito upang tuloy-tuloy na makabangon ang Sablayan mula sa epekto dulot ng pandemiyang ito”, Mayor Dangeros gratefully said. (Thank you very much DOLE for the unrelenting support you have given to the Sablayeños ever since. It is a huge help to continue to rise to the Sablayan from the effect of this pandemic).

Representing DOLE MIMAROPA Regional Director Atty. Joffrey M. Suyao, Occidental Mindoro Provincial Director Bernardo B. Toriano responded, “Sa panahon na tayo ay nagpapagaling sa mga idinulot ng pandemiyang ito, ang aming Kagawaran ay laging handang tumulong sa buong lalawigan, tunay na nararapat na magbayanihan tayo upang sabay-sabay tayong makabangon mula sa krisis na ito.” (In this time that we are in the process of recovering from the effects of this pandemic, our Department is always willing to assist in all the province, we must truly be healed so that we can rise together from this crisis).

TUPAD under Bayanihan 2 is a safety net program that provides temporary wage employment to the workers in the informal sector particularly the unpaid family workers and self-employed workers with elementary occupations who were displaced or whose earnings were affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
