CALAPAN, ORIENTAL MINDORO – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) MIMAROPA through its Oriental Mindoro Field Office granted two (2) Bicycles with smart phones and eight (8) Tribikes with Nego Kart Business to ten (10) beneficiaries of the BikeCINATION Project on January 14, 2022 at Brgy. Lumangbayan Covered Court, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro. The first implementation of BikeCINATION Program will benefit a total of nineteen (19) selected informal workers in Calapan City, San Teodoro, Naujan, Victoria, Socorro, Pinamalayan, Gloria, Bansud, Bongabong and Bulalacao.

The BikeCINATION Project is an incentivizing program of DOLE in the form of livelihood assistance for individuals who have received and completed their COVID-19 vaccine as part of the government’s COVID-19 vaccination drive. This livelihood assistance includes bicycles with smart phone intended for online delivery business and tribike with NegoKart Business for ambulant vendors. Likewise, beneficiaries are also covered with micro-insurance under the GSIS.

Mr. Curitana, one of the beneficiaries who received a mountain bike with starter merchandise package and smartphone expressed his earnest gratitude as he can now start his rider online delivery business. “Ako po ay lubos na nagpapasalamat sa ibinigay na tulong ng DOLE sa kanilang BikeCINATION Program Ito po ay malaking tulong sa amin na magkaroon ng hanapbuhay. Makakaasa po kayo na ito pong ipinagkaloob niyo ay aking papalaguin sa abot ng aking makakaya” (I am very thankful for the DOLE’s BikeCINATION Program. This livelihood assistance will help us generate alternative means of income specially this time of pandemic. Rest assured that we will nurture it to the best of my ability), Mr. Curitana said during awarding activity.

Meanwhile, DOLE OrMin Field Office Head Roderick F. Tamacay shared that the BikeCINATION Project aims to encourage workers in the informal sector get their vaccine in exchange of free livelihood grant depending on their chosen or proposed business. He further challenged the beneficiaries to become relevant in their respective community by taking good care of their newly ventured projects.

The BikeCINATION Project is under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program intended to provide decent livelihood mainly for the benefit of vulnerable and marginal workers in the countries informal sector by providing them assistance for capacity-building on their livelihood and entrepreneurial ventures.
