Enterprises play a critical role in creating economic, opportunity and changing lives. Entrepreneurship has been considered the backbone of economic development. The myth that entrepreneurs can be created and nurtured through appropriate interventions in the form of entrepreneurship development programs.
To empower these entrepreneurs in improving their own businesses, the Department of Labor and Employment MIMAROPA Region thru Occidental Mindoro Field Office conducted one-day Workers Organization Development Program (WODP) Training on 29 March 2019 at Sikatuna Beach Hotel and Restaurant, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.
Attended by 32 participants from four (4) workers associations; the Samahan ng Inang Masikap, Sitio Tugtugin Women’s Association, San Jose Vendors Association, and Barangay Iriron Family Association, had successfully finished
The DOLE training team used the experiential learning approach to make the training more interactive and somehow enable the participants to learn through reflection on doing. Among the topics discussed are the Vision and Mission, Goals and Objective Setting, Values Clarification, Management, Marketing, Production and Financial Management. Workshops on production, marketing and financial aspects were also carried out during the activity.
Mr. Roderick F. Tamacay, Field Office Head of DOLE Occidental Mindoro Field Office stressed the significance of entrepreneurship for generating employment: alleviating people’s condtion and improving the wheels of business and industry. He also encouraged the entrepreneurs to sustain their livelihood so they could avail again another grant after three years.
