SANTA CRUZ, MARINDUQUE – On 19 May 2021, Department of Labor and Employment MIMAROPA through the Marinduque Field Office awarded a check worth Php1,000,000.00 to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Santa Cruz as the Accredited Co-Partner in the implementation livelihood projects benefitting 62 beneficiaries.

The grant will be used to purchase starter kits for Negokarts, Rice Retailing and Sari-Sari Stores for the underemployed beneficiaries of the Municipality of Santa Cruz composed of parents of child laborers, farmers, fisherfolks and physically disabled.

Representing DOLE MIMAROPA Regional Director Joffrey M. Suyao, Ms. Maria Cielo O. Orilla, the focal person for Livelihood projects in Marinduque, awarded the check to Municipal Mayor Antonio Uy at the Municipal Hall of LGU Santa Cruz. In his message, Mayor Uy conveyed appreciation to DOLE and its livelihood programs of DOLE. “For a long time, when it comes in giving assistance to the poor and displaced people, the department (DOLE) has been our partner. Thank you for your continuous assistance to our constituents.”

The Kabuhayan Starter Kits Projects is a component of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) that aims to provide assistance to the informal sector or marginalized self-employed workers with insufficient income. The program is a form of DOLE intervention that seeks to contribute to poverty reduction through promotion of entrepreneurship and community enterprises.
