SOCORRO, ORIENTAL MINDORO – 84 TUPAD workers got paid of their salaries during holiday season at the height of bad whether condition brought by tropical depression “Usman” days after Christmas and prior to New Year on December 29, 2018 in the total amount of P378,000.00.

Under the DOLE’s Tulong Pangkabuhayan Sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers program (TUPAD), these workers were engaged in a short-term employment of fifteen days from December 11 to 26, 2018 (Christmas not included) doing community works such as clearing of trees/bamboo trees facing the lakeshore of Barangays Pasi I, Pasi II and Batong Dalig in Socorro, Or. Mindoro. Aside from the wages of P300.00/day per employee, the DOLE has also provided them with personal protective equipment such as long sleeved shirt, gloves, and hats, and were enrolled in a year coverage of micro insurance. The other tools needed in the activity has been the LGU’s counterpart.

This has been done in connection with the LGU’s plan of constructing a community board walk and converting the area into a small business community where at daytime people from different places could go and buy variety of goods while at night time a place for a fresh air walk where delicious foods would be available.

The salary disbursement was headed by Regional Director Joel M. Gonzales accompanied by Engr. Juliana H. Ortega – Or. Mindoro Field Office Head, Ramezes R. Torres – LEO III /DILEEP Focal Person, Andrea Joy A. Leuterio – Administrative Officer V / Unit Head-PISU. Also, Municipal Mayor Ma. Fe V. Brondial was present during distribution of payment.
