PUERTO GALERA, ORIENTAL MINDORO – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) MIMAROPA through its Oriental Mindoro Field Office and in partnership with Barangay Poblacion of Puerto Galera has awarded “Nego Kart” projects to fifteen (15) self-employed workers in Puerto Galera.
The “Nego Kart or Negosyo sa Kariton” were awarded by DOLE with Barangay Poblacion as the accredited co-partner (ACP). Each beneficiary received a livelihood grant amounting to Php35,050.00 (with ACP counterpart). This will provide help for the ambulant vendors to start their own profitable business such as Balut Vending, Rolling Fruit Store and Snacks Vending, among others. Thus, giving them an alternative decent source of livelihood especially this time of pandemic.
During the awarding ceremony on February 12, 2021, DOLE MIMAROPA Regional Director Atty. Joffrey M. Suyao emphasized the government’s commitment to assist the most vulnerable and marginalized members of our society through the DOLE livelihood and other poverty alleviation programs. As such, the beneficiaries, in these trying times, are encouraged to take good care of the awarded Nego Karts and work hard to make it profitable.
Present during the awarding ceremony were Board Member Alexandra C. Casubuan, Municipal Councilors Joanna Mae Villamor, Miko Mark Francis P. Atienza, Barangay Chairman Aristeo Villamor R. Atienza II and other local barangay officials.
The “Nego Kart” is a Kabuhayan project under DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) intended to provide decent livelihood mainly for the benefit of vulnerable and marginalized workers in the countries informal sector by providing them assistance for capacity-building on their livelihood and entrepreneurial ventures.
