The activity aims to promote the children’s rights and their critical roles in nation-building. It also highlights that right of children to be protected from all types of abuse. Rather, support must be given to in pursuing their studies instead of sending them to forced labor.

Among the highlights of the program is the distribution of grocery packs and school bags to the children and the 13-day training of the parents to the TESDA’s Processed Food by Salting, Curing, and Smoking which in turn, shall be the basis of the livelihood assistance to be granted by DOLE.

“Maraming salamat po sa DOLE sa inyong malaking tulong na ito. Sinisigurado po namin na susuportahan naming ang aming mga anak sa pag-aaral upang hindi na magtrabaho sa murang edad. Amin din pong pagtatagumpayan ang ipagkakatiwalang tulong sa amin ng pamahalaan.” (We are very grateful to DOLE for this assistance. We assure you that we will strongly support our children in their studies and prevent them from working at young age. We will also make our best to make this livelihood successful and sustainable) responded Ms. Rhona, one of the parents.

By virtue of Republic Act 10661, the National Children’s Month is an annual celebration that commemorates the significance of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child by the United Nations General Assembly on Nov. 20, 1989.
