During the orientation, DOLE explained the significance of the National Skills Registration Program (NSRP) with its objective of maintaining a continuing nationwide skills registry through its Skills Registry System (SRS) database. Under the NSRP, the PEIS serves as the enhanced version of the Skills Registry System. It is a database of active manpower supply containing the profiles of all persons and employers registered under the NSRP. It shows information on the qualifications and skills of the applicants as well as the job vacancies posted by the employers. This registry is to be maintained and updated by PESOs. In return, it will provide fast and effective employment service to jobseekers and clients.
Moreso, Ms. Jessa Benoza (DOLE Focal on PJN) also introduced the PhilJobNet (PJN) to all the participants and how to use/access it. PJN is an internet-based job and applicant matching system which aims to fast track jobseekers search for jobs and employers search for its needed manpower in their companies.
Hitting all the birds in one stone, the DOLE team also seized the opportunity to discuss other DOLE’s programs and services including the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES), Government Internship Program (GIP) which was discussed by Mr. Rolando R. Ladao III (Employment Facilitation Focal Person), while the DILEEP Guidelines was presented by Ms. Mylene A. Lleno (DILEEP Focal Person).
On a larger perspective, PEIS plays a significant role in assisting the PESO in effective facilitating access of Filipino jobseekers to employment opportunities, labor market analysis and provision of technical assistance in support of their employment service operations.
