ORIENTAL MINDORO – On June 18, 2021, the Department of Labor and Employment MIMAROPA through its Oriental Mindoro Field Office awarded livelihood checks with a total amount of Php555,500.00 to the Barangay Local Government Units (BLGU) of Bonbon, Mansalay and San Roque, Bulalacao as Accredited Co-Partners.
Composed of 86 local farmers, the association Pagkakaisa Para sa Kaunlaran at Kapayapaan ng Sitio Ilihan of Bonbon, Mansalay was awarded with a Broiler Production livelihood projectworth Php305,500.00. This will be used to purchase raw materials, tools and equipment to start its livelihood undertaking.
Also, the association Samahan ng mga Mangingisda at Magsasaka ng Pocanil in San Roque, Bulalacao with 23 members can now have its own motorized fishing boat which can be used not only for fishing but also a rental boat for tourists who wish to explore the beautiful beaches and islands in Bulalacao.
The officers and members of both associations expressed their gratefulness as they thanked and welcomed the assistance from DOLE and LGU during the awarding ceremony. They manifested that they will nurture and sustain the livelihood assistance especially that their current livelihood has been affected by the global pandemic.
Representing DOLE MIMAROPA RD Joffrey M. Suyao, Livelihood Focal Person Ramezes R. Torres appreciated the initiative and cooperation between BLGU and its people for joining hands in creating sustainable livelihood in the local community. In his message, he emphasized that this livelihood assistance which have undergone thorough process of evaluation in its feasibility and viability, must be nurtured and sustained for the benefit of the beneficiaries and their families and the local community.
The DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) or Kabuhayan Program supports the government’s efforts for poverty reduction and inclusive development through entrepreneurship and community enterprise.
