MANSALAY, ORIENTAL MINDORO – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) MIMAROPA through its Oriental Mindoro Field Office conducted Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced workers (TUPAD) orientation to 1,296 informal workers of LGU Mansalay on January 12 – 13, 2023.
The beneficiaries will be employed for ten (10) days starting on January 13, 2023 up to January 24, 2023 and will work on social community projects including waste clearing and segregation, unclogging waterways, etc. They will earn a total of Php3,550.00, or Php355.00/day, equivalent to the prevailing minimum wage in MIMAROPA and will be disbursed through a remittance center.
For safety, they will receive a set of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and will be enrolled in the Group Personal Accident Insurance (GPAI) program of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) for insurance coverage. They were also instructed on the documentary requirements needed to process their wages aside from the health and safety procedures to be followed during the program implementation.
Also, a check amounting to Php4,600,800.00 was awarded to DOLE MIMAROPA’s Accredited Co-Partner, LGU Mansalay to be used in paying for the workers’ wages. It was awarded by Mr. Ramezes R. Torres, DOLE MIMAROPA Senior LEO and received by Mayor Ferdinand Maliwanag. The LGU stated its support to the program and pledges to assist in the monitoring of the community service.
TUPAD is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of ten (10) days, but not exceeding thirty (30) days, depending on the nature of work to be performed.
