CALAPAN CITY, ORIENTAL MINDORO – On December 21, 2022, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) – MIMAROPA thru Oriental Mindoro successfully conducted the face-to-face orientation on Family Welfare Program (FWP) to employees of Calapan Waterworks Corporation including its affiliated companies namely: Menakeo Construction Corporation, Servisol Network, Inc., Kristal Water Source Corp and Mindorock Resources Corp.

The FWP aims to promote plant-level initiatives to contribute to the goals of the Philippine Population Management Program (PPMP) to instill family planning/family welfare consciousness among labor and management as a key in promoting workplace productivity and improved worker-management relations.

Mr. Edralin B. Magcalayo (Senior LEO) and Mr. Francisco F. Sales III (LEO III) discussed the overview and legal basis of FWP including the composition of FWP Committee. The establishment can choose among the ten (10) dimensions of FWP namely: (a) Reproductive Health and Responsible Parenthood; b) Education / Gender Equality; c) Spirituality or Value Formation; d) Income Generation / Livelihood/ Cooperative; e) Medical Health Care; f) Nutrition; g) Environment Protection, Hygiene and Sanitation; h) Sports and Leisure; i) Housing ; and j) Transportation to serve a guide in formulating programs and activities that are suited to the needs and welfare of the workers. The orientation was participated by nine (9) employees representing the management, workers and company nurse.

Under Department Order No. 56-03, “Rationalizing the Implementation of Family Welfare Program, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) seeks to introduce the concept of promoting the welfare of workers and their families as a key to workplace productivity and improved worker-management relations. It is an advocacy program that draws corporate support in promoting workers’ quality of life by adopting a family centered approach in the workplace.
