PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, PALAWAN – on 06 August 2021, DOLE MIMAROPA, thru its Palawan Field Office, in collaboration with the Public Employment Service Office, Puerto Princesa conducted a virtual graduation ceremony for ninety-nine (99) beneficiaries of the JobStart Program Philippines via Zoom platform. After successfully completing the thirty-seven (37) modules of online Life Skills Training (LST) provided by YES Academy, they are now well equipped in facing the new challenges brought by the world of work.
Amidst this challenging time and the hardship that we are all experiencing caused by COVID-19. DOLE and JobStart Philippines Program (JSP) remained committed to providing support and assistance to empower our youth, especially the at-risk youth. Through the efforts of DOLE MIMAROPA, Puerto Princesa City PESO and Bureau of Local Employment (BLE) in partnership with YES Academy, the online Life Skills Training provider for this year roll-out, they made this year’s training possible and successful considering all the health and safety protocols being implemented.
Present during the graduation program were DOLE Assistant Secretary and BLE Concurrent Director Dominique R. Tutay, DOLE MIMAROPA Regional Director Atty. Joffrey M. Suyao, Embassy of the Government Canada Senior Development Officer Dale Abapo – Aranas, Puerto Princesa City Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron, Puerto Princesa City PESO Manager Mr. Demetrio “Bong” A. Lopez Jr., and DOLE MIMAROPA Supervising LEO Mr. Philip T. Alano.
Through the “new normal”, the LST journey was not easy for some trainees because of internet connectivity issues. Others encountered difficulties while answering modules and tests but still enjoyed the learning experience. Some topics of the modules are: personality development, character enhancement, financial management, and work preparedness. Moreover, this year’s batch of trainees showed cooperation and teamwork in completing their activities. The unity they demonstrated motivated and encourage everyone working behind the JobStart Philippines Program Implementation to exert more effort for the success of the program for the improvement of the welfare of the youth. This event is an inspiration to everyone that no matter how difficult the situations that we are in, we can push further through heart and dedication.
“To our dear JobStart graduates, may you carry on the learnings gathered from your Life Skills training wherever you may be as you continue to persevere to ultimately reach your dreams.”, Asec Tutay said in her message.
“This is a good foundation for you graduates as you venture in your own careers. All the lessons you’ve learned can be applied to your work or even your personal lives. Please always bring them (life skill lessons) with you as it will definitely help enhance your life.” RD Suyao added in his message.
JobStart Philippines Program of the Department of Labor and Employment in partnership with the City Government of Puerto Princesa City through the City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) aims to enhance the employability of our youth and to be highly competent and ready for employment.
