To facilitate harmonious relationship between the business owners and employees in the workplace, the Department of Labor and Employment Palawan Field Office conducted simultaneous Labor Education to the 229 management and workers of i-Prudential Stevedoring and Port Services Inc. and Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation (RTNMC) in Town Site, Barangay Rio Tuba, Bataraza, Palawan last April 11 and 12, 2019.

Mr. Renell G. Mayo, Labor Inspector, discussed General Labor Standards which includes Employer and Workers’ Rights, Social Security Coverage, Health & Safety and Insurance (PHIC, SSS coverage), Prevailing minimum wage in the Region and the basic information on the new Occupational Safety and Health Law to the management and workers of i-Prudential Stevedoring and Port Services Inc. It was attended by 174 participants held at Nickel Nook Restaurant in the said barangay. Meanwhile, 55 participants from management and selected workers of RTNMC also undergone the same learning session held at RTNMC Gymnasium facilitated by another Labor Inspector Ms. Anna Dominique C. Magbanua.

Labor Education is designed to guide for the management and workers on their rights and responsibilities. It is a regular program of the Department that provides a venue for employers and employees to gain insights so that they will fully understand their rights, duties and responsibilities and maintain industrial peace in the workplace towards attaining decent and productive work.
