MAGSAYSAY, PALAWAN – On 11-12 January 2022, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) MIMAROPA thru its Palawan Field Office facilitated the payment of TUPAD wages amounting to Php3,259,000.00 to 679 beneficiaries of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program at Magsaysay, Palawan.

The beneficiaries received a salary of Php4,800.00 each based on the prevailing minimum rate of Php320.00 in the region for rendering community service for 15 days in the last quarter of 2021. Beneficiaries were engaged in waste clearing and segregation, de-clogging of canals and cleaning different areas in the community.

DOLE Palawan Provincial Director Luis B. Evangelista and LGU Magsaysay PESO Manager Joel Lagrosa personally distributed the pay-out of wages. “May this amount be a great help to all of you most especially almost all of you are affected by the typhoon. Please ensure that the money received be used for the immediate needs of your family.” PD Luis Evangelista said during his message.

The beneficiaries and residents of Magsaysay thanked the Department for the prompt assistance in these trying times due to the ongoing pandemic and the devastation caused by typhoon “Odette”,

TUPAD or Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed.
