CALAPAN CITY, ORIENTAL MINDORO – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) MIMAROPA through its Oriental Mindoro Field Office and PESO Managers Association of Oriental Mindoro, Inc. (PMAOMI) conducted its 1st Quarter Meeting on 19 March 2021 at Filipiniana Hotel, Calapan, Oriental Mindoro.

With limited face-to-face interaction among participants while strictly observing minimum health and safety protocols, the meeting was called for to lay down the programs and services to be implemented by the department during this new normal and to present the current employment updates and accomplishments of various municipalities in Oriental Mindoro. Other agenda includes the presentation of accomplishments for 2020, updates on livelihood assistance and projects, employment facilitation plan, OWWA and POEA updates.

During the meeting, Or. Mindoro Field Office Chief Roderick F. Tamacay, emphasized the vital role of PESO Managers being the partner of DOLE in delivering employment facilitation services which resulted to the attainment of 2020 targets despite the challenges brought about by the COVID 19 Pandemic.

DOLE MIMAROPA Regional Director Atty. Joffrey M. Suyao recognized the unwavering support and cooperation of PESO Managers in the delivery of employment facilitation and workers welfare programs amidst the posing risk of pandemic.

“With the current situation, although it is challenging to deliver services and programs, especially to the displaced workers affected by this pandemic, we must plan, create and innovate so that we could continue providing assistance both in formal and informal sectors” Atty. Suyao said.

Another part of the activity was the awarding of Plaque of Recognition to outgoing PMAOMI President Dr. Eder Apolinar M. Redublo (Calapan PESO Manager) for his unselfish and dedicated service who served as a PESO manager since 2013. With that, a new election of officers was conducted wherein Mr. Aloysius G. Pesigan (Naujan PESO Manager) was elected as the new PMAOMI President.

Republic Act No. 8759 or the PESO Act mandates the establishments of Public Employment Service Office known as “PESO” in every province, key city, and other strategic areas throughout the country to ensure prompt, timely, and efficient delivery of employment service and provision of information on DOLE programs.
