PUERTO GALERA, ORIENTAL MINDORO – On April 4, 2022, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) MIMAROPA awarded the amount of Php1,866,700.00 to the Local Government of Puerto Galera as Accredited Co-Partner for the implementation of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) benefitting 551 informal workers in Puerto Galera.

The TUPAD program implementation started on 01 April 2022 and will end on 12 April 2022. Beneficiaries will be engaged in social community projects for ten (10) days, such as debris clearing, de-clogging of canals, debris segregation and materials recovery, stockpiling, and clearing the basic repair of public infrastructures. At the end of the program, they will receive the total amount of Php3,200.00 or P320.00 per day which is equivalent to prevailing minimum wage in MIMAROPA region. Likewise, they will be provided with basic Personal Protected Equipment’s (PPE’s) such as Hats, Long Sleeves Face Mask and will be enrolled in Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) under Group Personal Accident Insurance (GPAI) for insurance coverage.

Before the start of work, beneficiaries were oriented about basic safety measures, minimum public health protocols as well as the reportorial documents to be submitted for processing of salaries.

Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers or TUPAD is under DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) of the Department of Labor and Employment that provides temporary wage employment to the workers in the informal sector who were displaced or whose earnings were affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
