On January 9, 2019, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Romblon Field Office awarded livelihood grant to BLGU – Mabini, Corcuera as the Accredited Co-Partner (ACP) together with the officers of Mabini National High School Parents Teachers Association.
The livelihood grant amounting to PHP 889,426.00 will be used for the project “Catering Services with Canteen” of Mabini NHS Parents Teachers Association. The association was very thankful since this is their second livelihood project with the DOLE. This will not only give additional source of income to the families of the members but also will serves as training ground for the senior high students as well as to the community. Likewise, rest assured that this augmentation to our Bakery Project will be nurtured), said by Mr. Elmer Fruelda, President of the said Association.
Mr. Famodulan, principal of Mabini National High School also expressed his gratitude for the assistance that their school received from the department. Catering Services with Canteen was their 2nd livelihood project with the department. According to him, “just like the Bakery Project, we will set to it that this Catering Service with Canteen will serve its purpose and promised to monitor its implementation for the success of this project. We will value our good partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment, BLGU Mabini, Corcuera, Mabini NHS PTA and looking forward for more interventions with the department.”
The awarded fund will be used to purchase various equipment, tools, jigs, raw materials, among others specified in the submitted proposal of the association and approved by the department in order to materialize their goal – to give their members additional source of income to alleviate their living condition and help the students develop their technical-vocational skills in catering and cookery.
The DILP is one of the flagship programs of DOLE and is one of government’s interventions to help poor, vulnerable and marginalized Filipino workers.
