ODIONGAN, ROMBLON – DOLE Romblon Field Office successfully concluded a one-day Social Dialogue with private establishments on October 22, 2019 at DOBS Events Place, Tabing-dagat, Odiongan, Romblon Romblon. The said dialogue was in line in one of the Eight-Point Labor and Employment Agenda of the Department to ensure full respect of Labor Standards and the fundamental principles and rights at work. Among the topics discussed were Regularization and Security of Tenure, Department Order No. 174-17, Expanded Maternity Law, Family Welfare Program and Labor and Employment Education Services.

The activity aims to encourage the employers to voluntarily regularize workers, prevent from engaging on Labor-Only Contracting, and provide updates on latest issuances and clarify issues in its implementation.

         The conduct of Social Dialogue is one way of the Department’s effective approaches in reaching out the employers and employees in promoting compliance to labor laws.

Industries participated in the dialogue were in retail/wholesale trade, service, construction, financial institution, academe, health and wellness, and cooperative.

        Subsequently, a new set of Occupational Safety and Health Network in the province was organized. Organization of OSHNET is the Department’s complement in the strict enforcement of Occupational Safety and Health Standards among establishments.

New set of Romblon OSHNET officers was also elected as follows:  Mr. Brix Magcalayo of CJ Star Security Agency (President); Mr. Leo Fadero of Kabalikat para sa Diyos at Bayan MPC (Vice-President); Ms. Debbie Vicente of Center for Agriculture and Rural Development Inc.
