BOAC, MARINDUQUE – On 09 July 2021, the Department of Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre “Bebot” H. Bello III graced the awarding ceremony of TUPAD and Kabuhayan Projects amounting to Php9.31M at the Marinduque Convention Center. This is in partnership with the Provincial Government of Marinduque headed by Governor Presbitero J. Velasco Jr. and House Speaker Lord Allan Jay Q. Velasco.
As the guest of honor, DOLE Secretary Bello awarded the following:
- 2020 National Best PESO (3rd-5th class province category) Trophy to Marinduque Provincial PESO, Ms. Alma Timtiman;
- Certificate of Eligibility for Native Pig Propagation Project amounting to Php6.5M;
- Check for the Municipality of Buenavista as Accredited Co-Partner for Starter Kits of Native Pig Dispersal Project amounting to Php1M;
- TUPAD payout to the first batch of beneficiaries of Boac with total amount of Php160,000.00;
- OWWA livelihood checks for 27 OFW beneficiaries with total amount of Php1.65M; and
- Oath taking of local HEROs (Healthy Economic Recovery Officers) for the Municipality of Torrijos
In his message, Secretary Bello mentioned “Maliban sa mga inaward ngayon, marami pang darating na tulong at ayuda mula sa gobyerno at sa aming ahensya lalo na ang TUPAD para sa ating mga informal workers na nawalan ng hanapbuhay dahil sa pandemya. Para naman sa ating mga OFWs ay ang programang AKAP at TABANG para sa kanilang mga anak sa kolehiyo na tuloy tuloy ang suporta ng ating mahal na Pangulong Duterte.” (Aside from what we have awarded today, there will still be upcoming financial assistance from the government and from our agency (DOLE) especially the TUPAD program for our informal workers who were displaced due to the pandemic. For our OFWs, we have the AKAP, and for their children in college, the TABANG program which receives continuous support from our beloved President Duterte.)
As response, “Lubos po tayong nagpapasalamat kay Sec. Bello at kanyang mga kasama sa kanilang paglalaan ng oras sa pagbisita sa ating lalawigan at pagbibigay tulong kabuhayan sa ating mga minamahal na Marinduqueños.” (We are grateful to Secretary Bello and his team for giving time to visit our province and award these livelihood projects in person for our dear Marinduqueños) Governor Velasco said. “To the best of my knowledge, he (Sec. Bello) is a model government official, he is the epitome of what qualities any government official must possess which is genuine love and compassion for our countrymen and dedication to public service.” He added.
Also present during the awarding are DOLE Undersecretary Renato L. Ebarle, BWSC Director Karina Perida-Trayvilla, OWWA Administrator Hans Cacdac, DOLE MIMAROPA RD Joffrey M. Suyao, DOLE MIMAROPA ARD Erwin N. Aquino, OWWA MIMAROPA RD Jose Capa and other Local Officials of Marinduque.
The DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) aims to provide assistance to the informal sector or marginalized self-employed workers with insufficient income. It is a form of DOLE intervention that seeks to contribute to poverty reduction through promotion of entrepreneurship and community enterprises.
