PUERTO PRINCESA, PALAWAN – On 08 April 2022, the Department of Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre “Bebot” H. Bello III graced the Blessing and Inauguration Ceremony of the new DOLE Palawan Field Office Building at the Government Complex, Santa Monica, Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

The aspiration of DOLE MIMAROPA for its Palawan FO to have its own building has come to fruition. This was possible thru the initiative of our honorable Secretary along with the generosity of the Local Government Unit of Puerto Princesa, led by Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron, for the donation of the lot where the 3 – Storey building was constructed. With this, programs and services can now be more accessible to the people of Palawan especially in Puerto Princesa City.

Aside from the inauguration, Bikecination Livelihood projects were released to 15 beneficiaries in the A4 category who have completed their COVID19 vaccination doses. The project aims to contribute to poverty reduction by providing bicycles that may be used for delivery and food services and mobile phones for e-loading business. Also, in partnership with LGU Puerto Princesa, the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) and Government Internship Program (GIP) salaries amounting to Php803,200.00, were released to 141 and 50 beneficiaries, respectively.

In his message, Secretary Bello mentioned “Salamat kay Cecil (Mayor Bayron) at Gov Alvarez for helping the Department in delivering our services. Gaya ng laging bilin ng ating mahal na Pangulong Duterte, ibalik sa mga tao (through government services) ang pera ng gobyerno dahil sa kanila rin naman galling ito. Sana gamitin nyo itong building na ito para matulungan natin ang mga kababayan ni Gov at Mayor. Para matuwa at mabigyan ng tamang serbisyo ang ating mga Palaweño.” (Thank you Mayor Bayron and Governor Alvarez for helping the Department in delivering our services. As mentioned by our very own Pres. Duterte, we will give to the Filipino people the services they deserve because the money of the government came from them as well. Use this building well to help the constituents of the governor and the mayor for them to receive the rightful services they deserve.)

As response, Governor Alvarez also gave his message: “Salamat at dinalaw tayo ni Secretary Bello. Dahil dito binibigyang diin na yung mga kawani na hindi pa nakakatrabaho ay natutulungan ng DOLE. Hindi lang ito welcome pero pasasalamat. At sana tuluyan nating tulungan ang mga unemployed sa Palawan.” (Thank you for visiting us Secretary Bello. This gives emphasis that unemployed workers are being assisted by the Department. This is not just welcome but a thank you program as well. And hopefully we can give assistance to all unemployed Palaweños.)

Also present during the awarding are DOLE Undersecretary Benjo M. Benavidez, BWSC Director Karina Perida-Trayvilla, Palawan Governor Jose Chavez Alvarez, Councilor Victor Oliveros (representing Mayor Bayron), DOLE MIMAROPA ARD Erwin N. Aquino, DOLE FO heads of other provinces and local officials

The DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) aims to provide assistance to the informal sector or marginalized self-employed workers with insufficient income. It is a form of DOLE intervention that seeks to contribute to poverty reduction through promotion of entrepreneurship and community enterprises.
