ODIONGAN, ROMBLON – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) through the Romblon Field Office awarded P178,081.00 worth of livelihood projects to 10 individual beneficiaries on 20 January 2021.

DOLE Romblon identified six parents of child laborers and 4 displaced workers through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in the different municipalities to be the recipient of the department’s livelihood program.

Having been qualified and complied with documentary requirements under DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP), various livelihood projects were granted in the form of raw materials, tools, jigs, and equipment, for the establishments of rice retail store, sari- sari store, snack house patahian and negokart.

With a grateful heart, the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude with tears of joy and smile on their faces.

“Maraming salamat po sa DOLE. Sa pamamagitan po ng ipinagkaloob niyong tulong pangkabuhayan ay magkakaroon na kami ng mapagkakakitaan at dagdag na panggastos sa aming pang-araw-araw na pangangailangan,” said Jhonna Sudan. (Thank you very much DOLE. Through this livelihood assistance, we will have a source of income and that could help to our daily expenses).

Meanwhile, DOLE MIMAROPA Regional Director Atty. Joffrey M. Suyao said, “The Department through its field offices continues to bring assistance and employment to the people in this time of crisis. The invaluable assistance of PESO in identifying the needs of their constituents, helped the department to respond appropriately.”

DILP seeks to contribute to poverty reduction and reduce the vulnerability to risks of the working poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers through promotion of entrepreneurship and community enterprises.
