Under Presidential Decree 851, employers from the private sector in the Philippines are required to pay their rank-and-file employees thirteenth – month pay regardless of their position, designation or nature of their employment provided they worked for at least one (1) month during a calendar year. This should be given to employees not later than December 24 of every year.

On February 3, 2021, DOLE Romblon Field Office accommodated the request for assistance of Mr. E. Gamo and 11 other construction workers regarding the non – payment of their 13th month pay.

Provincial Director Carlo B. Villaflores, representing DOLE MIMAROPA Regional Director Atty. Joffrey M. Suyao, facilitated the conduct conciliation-mediation of both parties. The employer willingly cooperated and after reviewing the issues on monetary claims of the requesting parties, the workers received their benefits ranging from Php3,904.00 to Php9,000.00 with a total amount of Php66,138.00.

As this is its first SeNA case and settlement for the year 2021, DOLE Romblon continues to aim for 100% settlement of all handled cases.

Single Entry Approach (SeNA) is an administrative process to provide a speedy, impartial, inexpensive and accessible settlement of all issues/complaints arising from employer-employee relations to prevent them from ripening into full blown disputes.
