With the theme: “DOLE at PESO: Magkasangga tungo sa Pagbabago at Pag-asenso”, province of Romblon hosted this year’s 15th MIMAROPA Regional Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Congress held at Looc Central Plaza, Looc, Romblon on February 19-20, 2019. Despite of the unique geographical situation of the region, this two-day congress was successfully attended by fifty-five (55) PESO Managers and staff.
During the opening program, all participants were gratified as they were welcomed with a dance number from selected students of Looc National High School promoting their Talabukon Festival and welcome remarks from the Municipal Mayor of Looc, Hon. Leila M. Arboleda. She commended the effort of the team for having the said gathering: “This activity is a venue of exchanging of ideas and sharing of experiences that will help to create a better action on the programs and services for the benefit of MIMAROPA”.
Congress was spearheaded by Joel M. Gonzales, OIC – Regional Director as he delivered a message emphasizing the significant role of PESO. “Saludo ako sa ating mga PESO, totoong kasangga kayo ng DOLE sa pagpatupad ng mga programa at serbisyo sa ating mga kababayan” (Salute to these PESOs, truly you serve as big partners in implementing our programs and services to our fellow MIMAROPANs) – he cited.
PESO Congress proper started with the presentation of 2018 DOLE Accomplishment by Ms. Rosemarie E. Campos, Acting head of Internal Management Support Division, highlighting the PESO Manager’s contribution in realizing the targets of DOLE MIMAROPA. Mr. Tristan Arvin A. Perez, Overseas Workers Welfare Officer III, discussed the programs and services of Overseas Workers and Welfare Administration.
The following day participants learned the conduct of Mobile Services and Online Procedures in applying for Philippine Regulation Commission (PRC) license and examinations presented by Ms. Benigna E. Mendoza, Supervising Professional Regulation Officer of PRC Region 4.
PESO hour was held during the last day of activity focusing on the discussion on the issues and concerns of each province and/or municipality lead by Mr. Richard P. Rebote, Provincial PESO Manager of Palawan, concurrent President of Federation of MIMAROPA PESO Managers Association, Inc.
Part of welcoming in the province, participants were delighted as the Municipal Government of Looc sponsored a socialization gathering during the first night. While Provincial Government of Romblon sponsored the Governor’s Night featuring the Live band and the first ever Search for Mr. & Ms. PESO Manager where Ms. Geraldine R. Visca of PESO Sta. Maria and Mr. Demetrio A. Lopez Jr. of PESO Puerto Princesa City won the title and they will represent MIMAROPA region in the upcoming 2019 National PESO Congress.
