CALAPAN CITY, ORIENTAL MINDORO – 2019 Labor Day Trabaho Negosyo at Kabuhayan (TNK) Job and Trade Fair was successfully held at Bulwagang Panlalawigan, Provincial Capitol Compound with more than eight thousand job vacancies/ orders offered for job hunters.

The successful event was made possible with the strong partnership and collaboration of DOLE MIMAROPA, Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro, Provincial Education, Labor and Employment, Youth and Sports Office (PELEYSO) and PESO Managers Association of Oriental Mindoro (PMAOMI).

In behalf of DOLE MIMAROPA OIC Regional Director Joel M. Gonzales who is in the same event in Aborlan, Palawan, TSSD Chief Philip D. Ruga expressed his gratitude to all participating employers and all the national government agencies who participated in the job fair. He was also honoured to deliver a message from the DOLE Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III, as he quoted: “On this special day we pay tribute and give honor to the Filipino workers. We do this in grateful recognition of their sacrifices and hard work that brought our nation to where it is now! …We salute every Filipino worker for their share in the march of our nation to new heights. In return, we remain committed in safeguarding the welfare of our workers even as we are equally steadfast in promoting gainful and decent employment for all.”

One hundred fifty-seven (157) jobseekers were registered and applied for the local and overseas jobs. Of the 157 total applicants, 99% or one hundred fifty six (156) were qualified for the position they have applied for and forty-nine (49) or 31% of them were Hired-On-The-Spot (HOTS).

Robelyn Sotto of Barangay Lalud, Calapan City expressed her gratitude to DOLE for giving her new lease on life thru the Job Fair. “Ako po ay isa sa HOTS na natanggap sa RRJ bilang Sales Associate. Ako po ay lubos na nagpapasalamat sa DOLE sa pagbibigay sa amin ng pagkakataon na magkaroon ng disenteng trabaho sa pamamagitan nitong Job Fair. Hindi lang po trabaho ang binigay ng DOLE kundi pag-asa rin para matulungan at maiahon ang aking pamilya sa kahirapan. Lagi ko pong ipagpapasalamat sa Diyos ang araw na ito (I am one of the HOTS who was fortunately hired by RRJ as Sales Associate. I would like to thank DOLE for giving me the opportunity to have a decent job through this Job Fair. Also, it gave me hope to alleviate the lives of my family. I am forever grateful to God for this blessing),” Sotto said.

Among the national government agencies present and which showcased their respective programs and services were SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, TESDA, PSA, DPWH, PRC, DTI, NEDA, and PNP.

Nipa vinegar, nipa sugar, banana chips, seaweed noodles, shampoo, soap, garments and concentrated calamansi juice were among the livelihood products marketed by the associations assisted by DOLE namely MANIPA, SANAKA, SAMASABALATASAN, SPANHIK and MARCO.

Meanwhile, DOLE MIMAROPA launched the official Facebook page which aims to disseminate the labor market information such as labor advisory, upcoming DOLE events, and will feature good news and press releases. Also, clients could send their labor queries and other related concerns to this page for appropriate actions.
