PUERTO PRINCESA, PALAWAN – On 20 October 2021, thirty (30) JobStart beneficiaries attended the JobStart Orientation Program for Organic Agriculture Production (OAP) NC II at Yamang Bukid Farm, Brgy. Bacungan, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

The program is a Competency-Based Training and they will be assessed at the end of the training. Trainees will be taught with skills and knowledge required in raising organic chicken, production of organic vegetables, organic concoctions and extracts, organic fertilizer and their elective which are raising organic hogs and/or raising organic small ruminants.

The participants were welcomed by Yamang Bukid Farm Vice President for Community Relations, George Maria. In his message, he shared life lessons and the company’s overview which includes its mission and objectives. He also emphasized that farming is an instrument towards the attainment of food security.

For their training, the participants were given an overview of the technical training to be done face-to-face for twenty-nine (29) days. They are expected to participate in daily farm activities. Basic, common, core, and elective competencies were also explained to our JobStart participants. Everyone is also reminded everyone observe minimum health and safety protocols while on the farm.

This kind of training helps in shaping our youth to be well-equipped in facing their future challenges by teaching them new skills under TESDA’s accredited training. Also, the National Certificate that they will be given upon completion can be used as an advantage in looking for a job.
